VMI clashes with Radford on Wednesday

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Baseball is on the road to face Radford Wednesday evening at Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium in Radford, Virginia.

Game Schedule and Probables
Wednesday | 6 p.m.
- TBA vs. TBA

The Keydets (25-16, 5-7 SoCon) have won four-straight midweek duals and will fight for the season sweep over the red-hot Highlanders, who have won their last six games.

Keys to the Keydets
Keydets Win Opener, Drop Final Two Games. VMI started the SoCon series with Samford with a strong 11-8 victory, but faltered in the last two games.

Top Performers. Kazuya Jordan batted .556 against the Bulldogs with five hits and three RBIs to pair with four steals. Bradley Garner tallied a team-high six hits, with Ryan Peterson earning four RBIs and James Newsome scoring four times.

Road Warriors. VMI has won its last three road games. In that stint, Kazuya Jordan has slashed .600/.700/.692, with six hits and seven RBIs. The Keydets have allowed just 11 earned runs.

Weekday Kings. Bradley Garner has produced at the plate during midweek battles, boasting a .485/1.000/.578 slash, with 16 hits, six doubles, and three home runs to pair with 21 RBIs and 15 runs. On the mound, Evan Parmer has made five appearances, earning a 2-0 record with a sub-three ERA and 23 strikeouts.

Situational Success. VMI swings .315 with 105 RBIs when there are two outs. The Keydets boast a .424 clip when the bases are loaded and a .487 average when leading off. It's worth noting that VMI bats .336 with runners in scoring position and .757 with a runner on third and less than two outs.

The Streak Continues. Boston Torres has reached base safely in all 41 games while Grayson Fitzwater follows right behind with a 36-game on-base streak. Torres is two games shy of breaking the all-time record.

Runs Boston Batted In. With 59 RBIs, which ranks third in the NCAA, Boston Torres is five shy of breaking the VMI single-season record set by teammate Grayson Fitzwater last year.

Speedy Kaz. Kazuya Jordan has raced his way towards the top of stolen bases this year, swiping 39 bags, which stands second in VMI history and in the nation. In his career, Jordan has stolen 72 bases, putting him at fifth all-time, surpassing his fellow Keydet, Owen Prince, who is at 71.

Torres It Up. While showing he can drive runners in, Boston Torres has proven he can get on base and score as he ranks in the top 20 in walks (40) and eighth in runs (58). His 58 runs are seven shy of the VMI single-season record. He has also hit seven sacrifice flies, the third most in the country. Torres leads the team with 15 multi-hit outings.

King of Steals. It only took Owen Prince 29 games to break VMI's single-season stolen base record after swiping his 37th bag against Longwood. He has 43 steals, with over a steal a game, both leading the country.

Prince of Pain. Owen Prince leads the team with 18 multi-hit games and is currently 17th in the NCAA in walks (40), 12th in runs (57), and 29th in hits (61).

That's So B-Rad. Bradley Garner boasts a team-high .389 batting clip and a .516 on-base percentage that ranks 31st nationally.

Fitz Bomb. Grayson Fitzwater smashed his 37th career home run against Ohio to move into a tie for fourth all-time. His 13 home runs in 2025 rank in the top 50 nationally.

Runnin' Raile. Cole Raile ranks eighth in the nation with 58 runs and is in the top 50 in stolen bases with 23.

Lloyd Expressway. Jaxon Lloyd has dominated the strike zone, tallying 58 punchouts in 45.1 innings for a stellar 11.57 K/9 ratio, which would be third in VMI single-season history. His career 10.9 K/9 split would rank second in VMI history.

Witnessing History. VMI is in the running to break several program records this season. If the season ended today, the Keydets' .467 on-base clip, 8.7 K/9, and 299 walks would be program bests. The .317 batting average and .520 slugging percentage would rank third. VMI's 191 stolen bases and 424 runs are second, while its 376 RBIs are third, and its 90 hit by pitches are fourth.

The Brand. VMI leads the country with 191 steals, closing in on the VMI single-season record set in 2023. The Keydets average nearly five steals a game.

Runs Galore. VMI leads the NCAA with 424 runs, averaging 10.3 runs per game, standing second. The Keydets have scored double digits in 22 games, with nine run-rule victories.

Eagle Eyes. VMI has drawn a nation-leading 299 walks. The top three players who lead the SoCon in walks are all Keydets, while two players rank in the top 25 in NCAA DI.

Plate Warriors. VMI is slashing .317/.520/.467, which all stand in the top 25 in the NCAA. The Keydets' .467 on-base clip is first, while their .317 batting average ranks 15th.

Rub Some Dirt On It. The Keydets have been hit by 90 pitches, the 12th most, with Ryan Peterson and Ayden Schnarrs leading the charge with 16 each, ranking 26th.

Small Ball. The Keydets are fourth in sacrifice flies (28) and seventh in sacrifice bunts (38).
