LEXINGTON, Va. – Coming off a pair of wins in California, the VMI Water Polo Team welcomes all their conference foes to the VMI Aquatic Center this weekend, as all nine teams do battle in the VMI-MAAC Invite.
The Keydets (9-5) will open Friday with Mount St. Mary's, play two against Siena and Wagner Saturday and close out Sunday with Villanova.
Senior Day
Sunday's game against Villanova represents Senior Day for VMI, as the Keydets will honor one of the more decorated players in its history in
Courtney Novotny. A native of Reading, Pennsylvania, Novotny led VMI in goals scored each of the last two seasons, netting 28 thus far in 2025. Novotny's 186 goals for her career rank fourth in program history, and with nine more scores, she will move into second all-time at VMI. Novotny's 116 steals rank fourth all-time, and she has 79 assists to her name, appearing in over 80 games in her career.

The Mount boasts an 11-6 record so far this season, scoring wins over Gannon, Saint Francis and MAAC foes Siena and La Salle. Most recently, Mount St. Mary's dropped three out of four. VMI and Mount St. Mary's just five times in their history, with The Mount taking the last two contests.

The Saints enter the weekend with a 2-13 overall record, defeating Azusa Pacific and Mercyhurst. Like Mount St. Mary's Siena has faced a few MAAC opponents, but they did not count as conference games. All-time, VMI leads the series 14-8, but Siena has taken the last two matchups

Although they are 8-6, Wagner is ranked 15
th in the nation coming into the weekend, with five of its losses coming against top-25 teams while scoring a 12-8 victory over No. 16 Michigan. VMI is in search of its first win in the series against Wagner.
Sunday, March 16 vs. Villanova – Watch – Live Stats
Villanova has already played 19 games this season, sitting at 13-6 overall. The Wildcats have won eight of their last nine, including an 11-8 victory over No. 21 Brown. The Keydets are in search of their first win against the Wildcats since 2019.
