Box Score 1 WASHINGTON, Pa. – The VMI Water Polo Team had a busy Saturday, traveling to Washington, Pennsylvania, for matchups with the Gannon Golden Knights and Washington & Jefferson College.

The Keydets, who downed Gannon a month ago, fell just shy 16-14 to start the day, but held on for a 16-15 win over Washington & Jefferson to close it out. VMI now sits at 7-3 overall on the season, giving Head Coach Danielle Montenegro her most wins in a single season just one month into 2025.

Gannon 16, VMI 14
- Novotny paced the team with six goals, while Sadie and Sydney Smith each scored twice
- Maddie Day had eight saves, with Casillas collecting one in relief
- Sydney Smith opened the scoring, but Gannon netted three unanswered
- The Keydets took a lead into the second, but the Golden Knights outscored VMI in the second and held a 9-7 lead at half
- While it looked like Gannon was going to run away with the contest (13-7, 3^rd), VMI showed its resiliency, clawing back before ultimately falling by two

VMI 16, Washington & Jefferson 15
- Sarah Fitzsimmons find the back of the net five times, while Haley Minnich and Hollie Sauceda scored twice (two assists each)
- Day (six blocks), Casillas (four blocks) and Taylor Hammond all see action in net
- Sydney Smith scores three times, draws four exclusions
