LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Baseball won a thriller on Saturday, walking-off Norfolk State at Lamore Field at Gray-Minor Stadium.
The Keydets (9-1) won their sixth-straight home game with a 13-12 walk-off victory over Norfolk State. With two runners in scoring position,
James Newsome ripped a single over the right fielder's head to bring home the game-winning run for VMI.

- VMI recorded 13 runs off 12 hits with 13 RBIs.
- The Keydets swiped eight bags and drew 14 walks.

Scoring Summary
- Norfolk State scored first in the opening frame on a pick-off attempt.
- VMI quickly scored a pair in the bottom half from two bases-loaded walks.
- In the third inning, Peterson doubled in one run right before Buchanan homered to left field to extend the Keydets' lead to four.
- The Spartans got two back in the fourth, cutting the deficit to 5-3.
- Peterson and Garner nabbed their first homers of the season in the fifth inning and sixth inning, respectively, to make it 8-3.
- Norfolk State began to surge back, scoring three more runs in the seventh.
- VMI retaliated with two more home runs, a three-run inside-the-park home run for Prince, the first for a Keydet since 2018, followed by a solo shot by Raile to double up the Spartans.
- However, Norfolk State would tie the game in the eighth inning, 12-12.
- In the bottom of the ninth with one out, the Keydets pulled off a successful double steal attempt that put both runners in scoring position that led to the walk-off single by Newsome.
