Keydets stay undefeated with shutout win

HANOVER, Md. – VMI Baseball swept its second-straight series after another dominating run-rule victory over Coppin State on Sunday at Joe Cannon Stadium.

The Keydets move to a perfect 7-0 on the season after a 16-0 win against the Eagles in seven innings for VMI's second shutout victory. VMI has posted 98 runs in 2025, the most by any NCAA Division I team this year.
 
 
Key Stats
- VMI scored a season-high 16 runs off nine hits and 14 RBIs.
- Seven of the nine hits came from the one through five spots in the lineup.
- Jaxon Lloyd was sensational in his second start, going six innings and allowing just one hit, no runs, and no walks with nine strikeouts for his second win.
- The Keydets allowed just one hit to the Eagles, marking the first time since 2014 that VMI has allowed one hit or less in a game.
- Leading the squad in RBIs was Kazuya Jordan who tallied five RBIs off two hits including a triple.
- Cole Raile posted four RBIs including one home run.
- Grayson Fitzwater went two for three for his second-straight multi-hit game.
- Earning his fifth multi-hit game was Bradley Garner who tallied two hits with a double, two runs, two walks, and three stolen bases.
- Owen Prince swiped three bags and scored three times.
- Boston Torres extended his hitting streak to seven games.
- The Keydets drew 13 walks, their fifth double-digit walk game.
- With 13 stolen bases today, VMI has swiped a nation-leading 67 bags and has had four straight games with 12 or more stolen bases.

- A pair of sacrifice flies scored two runs for the Keydets in the first inning.
- Garner doubled in one run in the third inning to make it 3-0.
- VMI put up nine runs in the fourth inning, tied for most in an inning this season for the Keydets.
- A throwing error after a double steal attempt scored Jordan right before Raile sent a three-run blast to left field that cleared the bases and made it 7-0.
- Ayden Schnarrs tallied an RBI before Jordan's bases-clearing triple extended VMI's advantage to 11-0.
- Torres capped off the fourth inning with an RBI single.
- Garner scored in the fifth off a wild pitch.
- The Keydets put up three more runs in the seventh inning off a Jordan double and a Prince infield single.
