Keydets fall to Terriers Wednesday night

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI basketball team fell behind early to visiting Wofford College and could not recover as the Terriers earned an 82-43 victory over the Keydets Wednesday night at Cameron Hall.
 
The Keydets (13-15, 7-8) had several opportunities to score in the opening minutes of the first half but could not find the bottom of the net as the Terriers (15-13, 9- 6) built a 9-0 lead by the first media timeout. VMI earned its first points of the game at the 15:26 mark on a pair of Augustinas Kiudulas  free throws, but the Terriers continued to pull away and built a 28-14 lead with 6:13 left before the half. Wofford did not let up and built a 44-17 lead at the break.
 
VMI fared better in the second half with 26 points, but the Terriers continued to build on their lead with 38 second-half points en route to their 82-43 road win.
 
Key Stats
* Wofford center Kyler Filewich earned a game-high 18 points on the night as he made nine of 10 field goals and earned a double-double with 11 board throughout the contest. He also had two blocks and a steal
* Terrier leading scorer Corey Tripp finished with 12 points while Kahmare Holmes also ended up with double figures with 11 points
*VMI's Rickey Bradley, Jr. finished with a team-high 17 points on the night as the only Keydet in double figures
*Linus Holmstrom finished with three treys on the night for nine total points during the game
*The Keydets shot 25 percent overall for the night (14-54) and went 7-for-31 from three-point range as they struggled to take the lid off the rim
*Wofford shot 56 percent from the field on 32-of-57 shooting and hit 10 threes on the night out of 26 attempts (.385)

The Keydets have another opportunity to earn their third conference series sweep of the season when they travel to Greenville, South Carolina, to face Furman Saturday at noon
