VMI cruises past Christendom

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI basketball team jumped out to a 28-12 lead midway through the opening half and never looked back en route to a dominant 89-36 win over Christendom College Friday night at a holiday-themed Cameron Hall.
 
Junior TJ Johnson scored in droves in the first half with 22 points including five three-pointers and finishing 8-12 from the field in 12 minutes of work. In only 19 total minutes on the court, he logged his third career double-double as he also recorded 11 rebounds during the game.
 

 
Redshirt sophomore Walker Andrews also played a big role in the first half by scoring 11 of his 17 total points in the game as he knocked down three treys of his own.
 
Key Stats
*Johnson played only a few minutes in the second half and ended up with a game-high 22 total points all scored in the first half
* Andrews put in two more threes in the second half to finish with 17 points, while Jaylen Pazon (13) and Linus Holmstrom (12) also finished in double figures for the Keydets. Pazon needed just two more rebounds for a double-double and Holmstrom needed just one more assist for his first career double-double
*Cal Liston poured in three treys to match his career high and finished with nine points on the night, one point shy of his first career double-double as he totaled 12 boards throughout the game
*Christendom team captain Bobby Vander Woude led the Crusaders with 13 points during the contest by hitting three treys
