VMI completes Ft. Myers Tip-Off with loss to Bowling Green

Box Score FORT MYERS, Fla. – The VMI basketball team finished off the Fort Myers Tip-Off with an 81-48 loss to Bowling Green Wednesday morning at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, Florida.
 
Linus Holmstrom hit VMI's first bucket of the day on a three-pointer at the 18:29 mark of the opening half, but the Falcons (5-2) took off from there to gradually build a 25-point lead to go into halftime with a commanding 45-20 lead.
 
The Keydets (3-6) kept fighting in the second half, but Bowling Green continued to hit big shots to stave off any threat of a VMI comeback.
 
Key Stats
*Four Falcons finished in double digits, including Mayar Wol who logged a game-high 21 points by hitting five of seven three-point attempts on the day
*Linus Holmstrom led VMI with 11 points during the contest after hitting one trey and going a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe
*Jaylen Pazon and TJ Johnson both registered nine points apiece for the Keydets
*VMI struggled from three-point range, hitting just three of 28 attempts (10.7 percent)
*The Keydets won the points-from-turnovers contest (12-11), but Bowling Green had more points in the paint (36-14), second-chance points (15-6), and bench points (42-13) as several VMI players sat out due to injury
