LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Swimming & Diving will welcome seven different programs to Goodall Pool this weekend for the annual Keydet Invite.
Beginning Friday and ending Sunday, the Keydets will host a plethora of talented teams, including Roanoke, Lynchburg, William Peace, Milligan, Southern Virginia, Bridgewater, and Columbia (SC). Each day will begin with prelims at 10:30 a.m. and will conclude with finals at 5:30 p.m.
Last weekend, the VMI men split their slate by defeating Howard and falling to UMBC. The women came up shy of victory against the Bison and Retrievers.
Sophomore
Stephen Russell added to his already impressive resume with two victories, one in the 500 Free and another in the 1,000 Free. This gave Russell his fifth and sixth first-place marks of the season. Also producing a first-place mark was freshman
Ian Lutz in the 50 Free, his second-straight 50 Free win.
On the women's side, the Keydets had five podium finishes, with freshman
Carissa Witte highlighting the evening with a victory in the 500 Free. On the boards, sophomore
Isabelle Haer tallied a second-place finish in the three-meter, along with third place in the one-meter.
