VMI hosts Samford on Saturday for Family Weekend

Game will be a Red Out

LEXINGTON, Va. – After a road contest at ETSU, the Keydets will compete at Foster Stadium for just the third time this season, hosting Samford on Saturday.

PROMOTIONS

LAST TIME OUT
- The Keydets fell 45-10 at ETSU, punting 14 times
- Ben Shrewsbury totaled 657 punt yards for a 46.9 average, including a 63-yard boom in the second half. He pinned three inside the ETSU 20
- Before leaving the game with injury, VMI quarterback Collin Shannon finished 7-for-16 for 41 yards with one interception
- A stifling ETSU defense held VMI to 11-30 passing for 69 yards on the day while holding the VMI rushing attack to 13 net yards (54 yards gained, 41 yards TFLs)
- Freshman wide receiver Traveion Slaughter led the VMI receiving corps with two catches for 22 yards
- ETSU Quarterback Jake McNamara finished with 176 passing yards by converting 8-14 attempts
- ETSU's Devontae Houston led the Bucs' rushers with 76 net yards on 12 carries
- Kouri Crump and Isaiah Grevious each had 8.0 tackles; Grevious totaled 1.5 sacks and 2.5 TFLs

BULLDOG BITES
- Samford was slated to finish fifth in the SoCon Preseason Poll with defensive lineman Conroy Cunningham landing on the First Team Defense
- Quincy Crittendon, who had three touchdown passes last year against the Keydets, is 4th in the nation with an average of 23.3 completions per game, enters Saturday as the backup, battling an injury
- Brady Stober, the projected starter, has seen action in five games, throwing for 462 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions (at Mercer: 14-for-22, 234 yards, 2TD, INT)
- Jaden Gibson has been the No. 1 target for Samford quarterbacks, averaging 7.80 per game (3rd, FCS) while Calvin Jones leads the team with three receiving scores
- Opponents have been able to get pressure on the Bulldogs, as they are allowing 4.67 sacks per game
- As a unit, Samford is allowing 479.3 yards per game defensively (120th, FCS)

- Samford has the all-time edge in the series 9-3
- The Bulldogs have won three straight, with VMI's last win coming in Lexington in 2021
