EMMITSBURG, Md. – VMI Men's Swimming & Diving picked up its first win of the season against Mount St. Mary's at ARCC Swimming Pool on Saturday.
 
The Keydets earned a dominating 221-71 victory over the Mountaineers, breaking 13 short-course meter records and 13 first-place marks.
 
Highlighting VMI's evening was freshman 
Hudson Weinhagen, who destroyed a 13-year Rat (freshman) record in the second round of one-meter dives. Weinhagen scored 273.90 points in the one-meter, claiming first place. This is the fourth-highest score in the league.
 
Sophomore 
Jack Mills had himself a day, breaking three short-course meter records and tallying three first-place finishes in the 200 Fly (2:07.07), 100 Free (51.97), and 200 IM (2:10.42). Sophomore 
Stephen Russell shattered a pair of similar records, earning first in the 200 Free (1:55.83) and 400 Free (4:08.36).
 
Also claiming first place in record-breaking fashion were sophomore 
Caleb Wolf in the 800 Free (8:54.52), junior 
Sam Castle in the 100 Back (57.97), freshman 
Ian Lutz in the 50 Free (23.40), and junior 
Matthew Picard in the 100 Fly (56.92).
 
Sophomore 
Sam Calder snapped a short-course meter record in the 200 Back (2:14.00) en route to second place, while junior 
Austin Reeder collected second in the 100 Breast in record time (1:04.71).
 
On the boards, senior 
Lane Jones brought home the gold in the first round of the one-meter, recording 264.05 points.
 
In the relays, VMI picked up a pair of victories and record-breaking marks, with the 200 Free Relay squad of Lutz, Calder, Castle, and Picard (1:34.50) and the 200 Medley Relay team of Castle, Tucker, Lutz, and Picard (1:43.16).
