LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Baseball has released ticket sales for the upcoming Peninsula Classic at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton, Virginia on April 30.
The Keydets are set to face William & Mary in a midweek, non-conference matchup at a neutral site location at War Memorial Stadium, home of the Peninsula Pilots baseball club, an NCAA and MLB-sanctioned college summer baseball franchise in the Coastal Plain League.
War Memorial Stadium
War Memorial Stadium, with a capacity of 3,700, was built in 1948 and is named War Memorial Stadium as a tribute to those who fought for our nation in World War II. Special features at the stadium include a state-of-the-art video board and field lighting system, 18 patio-style corporate boxes, a picnic area with a concrete/interlocking paver surface, and a full-service Tiki Bar. New dugouts, a new sound system, a party deck, a renovated clubhouse, and restroom facilities are just a few more of the improvements that have been made to the Peninsula's ballpark to enhance the overall fan experience.
Many MLB greats have played at the historic site throughout its history, including Barry Bonds, Satchel Page, Johnny Bench, and many others who reached The Show. Current VMI first baseman
Grayson Fitzwater, pitcher
Caden Plummer, and assistant coach
Trey Morgan played for the Pilots at War Memorial Stadium last summer.
