VMI falls to Chattanooga to finish road trip

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The VMI basketball team wrapped up an extended road trip with a 91-66 loss to host Chattanooga Sunday afternoon at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The matchup was delayed by a day due to snowy weather conditions in the greater Chattanooga area deemed unsafe for both game staffers and fans to attend.

With the loss, VMI falls to 6-11 overall and 0-4 in SoCon play while the Mocs improve to 10-7, 2-2 in league action.

Game Summary
The game got out of hand quickly for VMI as the Mocs built an 8-0 lead right off the bat and gradually extended the advantage over the opening 20 minutes to go into the halftime break with an insurmountable 51-22 lead.

The Keydets battled and continued to fight in the second half, but UTC responded with big plays to maintain a consistent lead that VMI ultimately could not recover from. VMI got to within 18 points with just under five minutes left in regulation, but the Mocs finished out the game on a run to end up with the victory.
