LEXINGTON, Va. – Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jim Miller announced the promotions of
Nasir Nichols and Bridget Shanks. Nichols will now serve as the Assistant Athletic Director of Business Operations while Shanks will serve as the Assistant Athletics Director for Cadet-Athlete Success.
Nichols came to VMI in the summer of 2022 as the Athletics Business Coordinator and has since played a key role in monitoring income and transactions for the Athletics Department and its respective teams. In addition to vendor cost management and assistance with ticket office reporting, Nichols is a resource to all VMI Athletics programs and serves as a game administrator for various sports.
A graduate of Rowan, Nichols earned his Master's of Sports Leadership degree from VCU in May of 2022.
Arriving on post in 2018, Shanks has held various roles before taking over the role as Director of Cadet-Athlete Development a year ago. A constant resource for the cadet-athletes, Shanks oversees the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, study hall scheduling and proctors, tutors and academic support staff, all critical areas in the overall success of the cadet-athletes. In addition to working with offices such as the Miller Academic Center, the Office of the Registrar, and Diversity, Opportunity, and Inclusion, Shanks serves as game administrator for various VMI Athletics programs.
Shanks, who earned her bachelor's degree from New Hampshire, holds a Master's in Sport and Recreation Leadership, which she attained from James Madison in 2018.
