WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – VMI Baseball (24-20, 6-6 SoCon) kicked off its season-long road swing with a huge 14-5 victory over William & Mary (25-16, 8-7 CAA) at Plumeri Park Tuesday evening.

Sam Roberts earned his 50th career victory at the helm, becoming the fastest coach to reach 50 wins in program history. VMI has won three straight and six of their last seven, matching their season-best winning streak.

Scoring Summary
- VMI rallied early to get a comfortable lead, scoring seven times in the first two frames
- Fitzwater kicked off the scoring in the opening inning with a two-RBI double followed by a Swaim sacrifice bunt to score one more run

Brett Cook belted an opposite-field two-run homer to make it 5-0
- VMI expanded its lead to seven in the second inning off a Swaim two-RBI double
- W&M posted a trio of runs in the second and third innings to cut the deficit to 7-3
- In the fourth, Fitzwater continued his dominant stretch with another two-RBI double before Swaim scored him on a single through the right side to extend the lead back to seven
- Morgan added more insurance in the fifth, singling in a run right before Starke stole home to take a 12-3 advantage
- However, the Tribe was able to cut the deficit to 12-5 after earning a pair of runs
- Adding on to his career-best game, Fitzwater smacked a two-run bomb in the seventh frame, regaining a nine-run lead and sealing the Tribe's fate
