GREENSBORO, N.C. – The VMI Keydets basketball team embarked on their last true road game of the 2023-24 season Wednesday, visiting the UNCG Spartans, who would notch their 20th victory of the season by defeating VMI 100-58.
UNCG moves its record to 12-5 in conference, holding on to second place in the league.
Key Stats

- Tyran Cook has 12 points, five assists

How it Happened
The Keydets and Spartans traded buckets to start and a fast break dish from Tyran Cook to Robert Peters made the score 21-20 UNCG with 9:52 remaining in the first. With UNCG looking to pull away, Corey Chesley would score back-to-back buckets and keep VMI within striking distance. A pair of free throws and 3-pointers eventually established distance between the two sides, as the Spartans took a 50-34 lead into break.
The Keydets matched points early in the second, but the three ball continued to fall for UNCG as they extended their advantage throughout the period, ultimately taking the contest.
