LEXINGTON, Va.
– Looking to cap off the regular season with a win, the VMI basketball team fell to visiting Wofford College by a 74-62 count as the Terriers employed a second-half rally to top the Keydets for the final home game of the year Saturday afternoon at Cameron Hall.

The Keydets played well in the opening 20 minutes, leading for much of the first half and pulling ahead by a 39-34 margin at the half. Taeshaud Jackson II torched the Terriers (17-14, 10-8) for 19 points in the opening half – including five three-pointers – and Maurice Wright, Jr. contributed seven points, but VMI could not sustain the momentum as Wofford clamped down on defense in the second half to limit VMI scoring opportunities.

Wofford tied it up at 39-39 within minutes of the second half and gained its first lead of the latter stanza, 43-41, at the 14:30 mark. The Terriers maintained a 6-7 point lead for much of the second period as the Keydets attempted to mount several rallies to overcome the deficit. Wofford kept the Keydets at bay late in the game by converting its free-throw attempts and several key baskets to avert the VMI offensive.
