LEXINGTON, Va. – After splitting one-sided contests on Friday and Saturday, VMI Baseball squared off with Georgetown Sunday afternoon at Lamore Field, falling by a score of 8-5.
VMI would jump out to a 4-1 lead, but Georgetown responded with five unanswered, adding two more runs in the ninth to take the contest. The Keydets now fall to 3-5, while Georgetown improves to 3-4.

How it Happened
- Wilkerson opens with a 1-2-3 inning, Keydets put four runs on the board in the opening frame getting RBI's from Starke (2), Morgan (1) and Garrett (1)
- Owen Carapellotti hit a solo shot in the second to make the score 4-1 VMI
- In the bottom half of the third, a close call (out) at first would prove to be the difference as VMI worked runners into scoring position but Georgetown would grab the third out before the Keydets could capitalize
- The Hoyas bats woke up in the fourth, taking a 6-4 advantage at the halfway point
- In the 6th, VMI once again had runners in scoring position, but Georgetown induced a double play to escape the inning, before Jake Hyde smashed a two-run homer in the 9th (8-4)
- Prince doubles to lead off the ninth and is brought in by a Jenkins single as the Keydets put runners on the corners with two down but a flyout to center ended the game
What's on Deck
The Keydets have an off day before traveling to 14th-ranked Virginia on Tuesday. First pitch from Charlottesville is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
