Opening Weekend:
-VMI opened its 2024 season playing two games each against #2/#4 LSU and Central Arkansas and finished the weekend with a 1-3 record.
-The Keydets split a doubleheader on Friday, narrowly falling to host LSU before beating Central Arkansas by a 3-1 score in the nightcap.
-VMI lost by one in extra innings on Saturday night to Central Arkansas and concluded the weekend with a Sunday loss to LSU.

Standout Performers:
- Will Riley shined in his first start of the season, firing 5.2 IP of one-run ball and earning a win versus the Bears.
- Holden Wilkerson struck out nine batters over 4.2 IP in his Saturday start versus Central Arkansas.
- Cole Jenkins had a team-best five hits and hit the team's first home run of the season.
- Grayson Fitzwater finished the weekend 4-11 (.364) with a double and five RBI.
 
Scouting the Spartans:
-Norfolk St. opened up its season by winning two of three games versus Mount St. Mary's at home this past weekend.
-Swaroop Pujari led the way offensively, going 5-13 (.385) at the plate with a home run.
-Raphael Rodriguez hit a walk-off single to win Sunday's series finale.
 
Series History:
-VMI has a 21-1 record against the Spartans dating back to the first matchup in 2001.
-The two teams met five times last year with VMI taking four of the five games.
-The Keydets scored over 10 runs in all four matchups at home but were shutout in the lone matchup in Norfolk.
