Keydets to wrestle Davidson, Gardner-Webb this weekend

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI wrestling team will take on Southern Conference opponents Davidson College and Gardner-Webb University this weekend looking to continue the positive momentum achieved last weekend.
 
The Keydets (9-8, 2-3) face Davidson Friday night at 7 p.m. at Cormack Hall before traveling to Boiling Springs, North Carolina, for an away dual at Gardner-Webb Sunday at 2 p.m.

VMI is coming off two wins last weekend over Bellarmine and LIU. In a tri-match, the Keydets defeated Bellarmine by a 25-11 team score before topping LIU 19-18 in the nightcap. Down 18-13 with only the 285-pound division to go, VMI heavyweight Tyler Mousaw delivered for VMI by earning a pin in the first period to lift VMI to a thrilling 19-18 come-from-behind victory in non-conference action at Cormack Hall.
 
About Davidson (1-13, 0-5)
Davidson is coming off a 36-7 loss to The Citadel this past Sunday and a hard-fought 25-17 loss to Gardner-Webb as Davidson looks to earn its first SoCon dual victory of the year.
 
Davidson faces #26 Appalachian State Thursday night before taking on VMI Friday night.
 
About Gardner-Webb (6-7, 2-3)
The Bulldogs are also coming off two wins from a week ago after defeating Davidson, 25-17, and a 54-0 victory over Presbyterian a few days before.
 
Gardner-Webb will face The Citadel Friday night before hosting VMI Sunday afternoon.
