- VMI enters the weekend with a 2-3 overall record, with one of its victories coming against McKendree in the VMI Invite on February 4

Scouting the Opponents
- Host Macalester is first up for VMI, as the Scots look to parlay their successful 2023 run into the 2024 season. Macalester is ranked ninth in the preseason Division III Water Polo Poll. Macalester returns its senior goalkeeper as well as its top two scorers.
- Augustana is 1-1 on the young season, falling to McKendree 11-8 but defeating Carthage 12-4. The third-year program has wasted no time getting rolling, posting a 17-6 record just last year.
- Carthage has played Augustana and McKendree to start the year (both losses). Last season, the Firebirds posted a record of 5-17 overall.
- McKendree has six games under its belt thus far in 2024, holding a 2-4 record. Their two victories came over Augustana and Carthage, while three of their losses came at the VMI Aquatic Center (Mount St. Mary's, Toronto). When the two sides met on February 4, VMI would force overtime and score the first two goals in extra time to take the contest 10-9.
