LEXINGTON, Va. – With National Signing Day commencing on Wednesday, the VMI Football Team inked 10 players to its 2025 class.
The group features three offensive lineman, two defensive lineman, two defensive backs, two linebackers, a quarterback and a tight end.
"We are really excited to officially announce our signees for the class of 2024," said VMI Football Coach Danny Rocco. "This group consists of 11 young men and families who are strongly aligned with both the core values of VMI as well as with our football program. We have a really good mix of Virginia commitments along with out-of-state regional signees. The majority of this class attended our summer prospect camps, and everyone had several visits to post. We look forward to welcoming this group to VMI this summer!"
JC Beverly – Tight End – Liberty Christian Academy – Lynchburg, VA
Beverly comes to VMI from the strong program of Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg, Virginia. At LCA, Beverly, who projects as a tight end for VMI, averaged 14.5 yards per catch in his junior season, and saw time at linebacker as well. An All-Region and All-District player, Beverly helped LCA Football capture the Seminole District Championship last month, helping Coach Frank Rocco complete a perfect 12-0 season in the process.

Adam Cannon – Offensive Line – Hebron Christian Academy – Dacula, GA
Spending time at the tackle and guard position, Cannon should provide versatility and depth to the VMI offensive front. An All-Region 8 AAA Selection this past season, Cannon helped Hebron Christian to a 10-2 record in his final season, as the Lions are slated to compete in the Final Four of the Georgia High School Athletics Private State Championship for the first time in program history on December 6. A Georgia Elite (20-22) selection, Cannon was also a member of the 2021 varsity golf team.

Derek Hite – Linebacker – Penn Cambria – Cresson, PA
A product of Penn Cambria High School, Hite followed up a 2023 season in which he was named 3A Second Team All-State (102.0 tackles, 17.0 TFL) with a senior year that included 109.0 tackles, 10.0 TFLs and 56.0 solo tackles. A member of the Penn Cambria baseball team, Hite was also utilized on offense as he recorded seven catches for 116 yards in 2024.

Will Ferguson – Defensive Line – Atlantic Shores Christian – Virginia Beach, VA
One of two recruits from Atlantic Shores, Ferguson will provide depth to the VMI defensive unit. This past season, Ferguson helped the Seahawks to a 6-5 record overall. Boasting a 6-foot-7 wingspan, Ferguson figures to be a disrupter for opposing quarterbacks at the collegiate level.

Baylor Necessary – Linebacker – Science Hill – Johnson City, TN
Ready to bring the boom, Necessary capped off his high school career with 130.0 tackles, four pass break ups, two interceptions, 4.0 sacks and 21.0 TFLs. Necessary would also see time on offense, with 62 rushes for 556 yards and 11 touchdowns. Sporting a GPA of 3.5, Necessary is a three-time 6A All-Region honoree and a one-time Defensive Player of the Year.

Ian Reynolds – Quarterback – North Atlanta – Atlanta, GA
A product of North Atlanta High School, Reynolds threw for 1,850 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, while rushing for 401 yards and fives scores this past year. Reynolds' performance helped lead North Atlanta to a 9-2 record, capturing the program's first region championship en route to 6A-Regional Player of the Year honors. As a junior, Reynolds threw for 1,099 yards and seven scores

Finley Sullivan – Defensive Line – Christ School – Hendersonville, NC
Despite missing three games due to injury, Sullivan helped his high school win three of its last four games and reach the NCISAA Semifinals. Serving as a captain for Christ School, Sullivan had 18.0 tackles and 6.0 TFLs in six games, including 3.0 sacks. Sullivan was also utilized in the offense, catching three balls for 42 yards.

Grayson Sykes – Offensive Line – Fort Mill – Fort Mill, SC
Sykes is another member of this class that is sure to bolster the offensive line, checking in at 6-foot-4, 275 pounds. While recruited for offense, Sykes played both ways for Fort Mill and earned Honorable Mention All-Region this past year. In the VTO Elite 100, Sykes was voted offensive line MVP this past March. Ready to get his hands dirty, Sykes is also a member of the Fort Mill Wrestling team, qualifying for states as a junior.

Matt Wavra – Offensive Line – Loudon County – Leesburg, VA
Wavra will most certainly add size to the Keydet front line, checking in at 6-foot-4, 275 pounds up front. Competing for Loudon County in Leesburg, Wavra also saw time on the defensive line where he helped lead his team to an 8-4 record in his senior year, going 3-1 in the region. A member of the National Honors Society, Wavra will look to bring leadership along with his size to VMI.

Corey Williams – Defensive Back – Atlantic Shores Christian – Virginia Beach, VA
A talented corner, Williams recorded three interceptions, nine break ups, 36.0 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss this past season for the 6-5 Atlantic Shores Seahawks. A versatile player, Williams also hauled in 35 catches for 527 yards and seven touchdowns after a junior season in which he had 40 catches for 459 yards and three scores.
