VMI defeats VU Lynchburg, 113-51

62-point margin of victory is largest since beating Christendom by 76 in 2019

LEXINGTON, Va. – Looking to get back in the win column, the VMI basketball team accomplished the task at hand by taking down Virginia University of Lynchburg in dominant fashion, 113-51, Tuesday night at Cameron Hall.
 
The 62-point margin of victory is VMI's largest margin of victory since defeating Christendom by 76 points in a 96-20 win in Lexington in November of 2019.
 

 
Game Summary
The Keydets took the reins from the start and jumped to a 31-11 lead midway through the opening half. VMI never put on the brakes en route to a 60-23 advantage at the half led by 13 points by sophomore guard Maurice Wright, Jr., who tied his career high in 20 minutes of play.
 
VMI eventually built a 64-point lead in the final moments of the contest on its way to victory, spurred early in the second half with a 17-0 run.
 

 
Key Stats
* Redshirt freshman guard Walker Andrews led VMI with a game-high 20 points on the night to match his career high set earlier this year versus Christendom
* A total of six Keydets registered double figures in scoring
* Freshman TJ Johnson finished with 19 points, four shy of his season high
* Junior guard Rickey Bradley, Jr. finished with 15 points and logged a career-high nine assists to come up just one short of a double-double and one helper shy of his career high set as a freshman at VMI vs. Carlow in 2022
* Wright tallied two more points in the second half to finish with a career-high 15 points on the night and pulled down a career-high eight rebounds, just two shy of his first career double-double
* Freshman Cyprian Hyde earned a career-high 10 points during the game and tracked down nine boards to come up just one short of his first career double-double
