Keydets head south to face Davidson

LEXINGTON, Va. – After completing the Greenbrier Tip-Off, the VMI basketball team continues its road trip with a contest at nationally recognized Davidson College Friday night at 7 p.m. at John M. Belk Arena in Davidson, North Carolina.

* The Keydets (4-2, 0-0) finished up the Greenbrier Tip-Off Monday night with a loss at Pitt to conclude the tournament with a 1-2 mark

In a series dating back to 1909, Friday's game marks the 109th all-time meeting between the schools as Davidson used to be a long-time member of the Southern Conference with the Keydets and played each other with regularity.
 
The Wildcats won the last contest by a close 75-71 score two years ago in Davidson and has won three of the last five. VMI last defeated Davidson on March 6, 2003, by a 66-60 count at the SoCon Tournament held in Charleston, S.C.

VMI Basketball stumbled in a road contest against Power Five Pittsburgh Monday night at Petersen Events Center.
 
The Keydets, who fall to 4-2, had a tough outing against the Panthers, 93-48. Pitt's offense exploded in the second half, shooting nearly 71% from the field and over 66% from deep, causing chaos on the defensive end for VMI.
 
VMI finished the game shooting 25 percent from the field and 25 percent from beyond the arc in the loss as the Panthers finished 55 percent from the field and nearly 50 percent from 3-point range.
