LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI Keydets Rifle program had another strong outing on Saturday, as the Mixed Team topped rival The Citadel with a score of 4568 to earn the victory.
The Women's Team, which set an aggregate record last week (4502), smashed that number today, totaling 4534 as four of seven women shooters set personal records in the process. This is the third straight outing that the Women's squad has set new program aggregate marks.
Christopher Hicks was the top scorer for VMI, topping the smallbore charts with a 574 and totaling 1162 to finish second overall, hitting 65 centers in the process. Ryan Harlow scored a 1155 with 59 centers to place third, while Darian Tweedell led the women with an aggregate score of 1145 (58 centers).
Adrianna Sanders and Elizabeth Stann were major reasons for the women's success, placing sixth and seventh with scores of 1139 and 1137, respectively. Sanders upped her air rifle score to 582 (579 last week), shooting a 557 in the smallbore. Emma Cameron was able to place ninth in the air rifle with a score of 576 and 28 centers.
