Keydets earn 1-1 draw at Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Down 1-0 at the half, the VMI women's soccer team fought back to earn a 1-1 draw with host Wofford College in a critical Southern Conference matchup Thursday night at Snyder Field in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The game was an important one for both squads with only two weeks remaining in the regular season as both are vying for the opportunity to play host for the opening round of the Southern Conference Tournament slated to begin Tuesday, October 29.

Game Summary
*The Terriers scored first with a goal in the 15th minute (14:20) when Mary Grier took a shot from outside the VMI goalbox and slotted it into the upper right corner of the net to put Wofford up, 1-0, early in the match
*VMI equalized the score at 1-1 with 30 minutes left in regulation (60:36) when junior Riley Boucher headed in a cross from Daniela Monastero on a set piece off a free kick. Her shot deflected off the Wofford keeper and snuck into the lower right corner of the net to knot the score

VMI Head Coach Chris Haught-Thompson
"I'm proud of our group. We challenged them to respond and I thought they fought so hard. We played on the front foot and created a few major chances for ourselves. Though we had a couple big chances to win it, we got a positive result on the road and another point in a tough league."

*VMI goalie Whitney Tracy earned seven saves on the night while Wofford's Elizabeth Navola logged six
