Wrestling to compete in three duals this weekend

LEXINGTON, Va. – After competing in two separate tournaments over the past month, the VMI wrestling team will resume dual action by hosting Hofstra Saturday before traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina, to face Queens and Sacred Heart Sunday afternoon.
 
The Keydets will square off with Hofstra Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cormack Hall, then hit the road to Queens University of Charlotte to face the Royals at 1 p.m. and Sacred Heart in a neutral match at 2:30 p.m. at Queens' Curry Arena.

The Keydets (4-4, 0-0) are coming off a great performance at the Soldier Salute tournament in Coralville, Iowa, from Dec. 29-30 over Christmas Furlough. Senior Tyler Mousaw placed eighth at 285 pounds after two wins on Dec. 29, but fell to tough opponents from Iowa and Nebraska the following day. 

Several other Keydets competed in the silver bracket on the second day. Sophomore Dyson Dunham finished 1-1 at 133 pounds to take third and won his match 16-1 by technical fall . Fellow sophomore Ryan Vigil placed third in the last chance bracket with a 1-1 record. He defeated his opponent from Minnesota, 3-2. Junior Josh Evans also was 1-1 on the day to finish third at 197 pounds.
