VMI Men’s Soccer nets most goals in 19 years in 5-1 win at Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, Va. – The VMI men's soccer team netted the most goals for the program in 19 years Tuesday in a 5-1 win at Mary Baldwin University on SMA Worth Field. The Keydets scored five against Averett in the 2004 campaign in an identical 5-1 victory.

How it happened:

*Freshman Kyle Grant, this week's Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, scored twice in the first half as the Keydets opened an 4-1 lead at intermission
*Juniors Drew Menges and Cole Mooney also scored in the game's first 45 minutes
*After VMI had a 3-0 lead, the Fighting Squirrels got on the board with a penalty kick tally
*In the second half, senior Warner Collier deflected in a shot from Rider Holcomb for the game's last goal
*Mooney assisted on three goals on the day
