Dylan Holbach and
Kyle Grant earned the Southern Conference Men's Soccer Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday, respectively, for the week of September 26.

Grant, a freshman forward, scored the game-winner against Radford with less than four minutes on the game clock. He took a long pass along the left wing, eluded the charging Highlander goalie, and fired a shot past a defender at 86:01 for the game winner. The Montego Bay, Jamaica native also has an assist on the year.
Holbach made eight saves to shutout Radford in the first start of his
Keydet career, being pressed into action with two of the program's goalies out due to injury. The sophomore from Chesapeake began the season as a team manager and hasn't allowed a goal in just over 105 minutes in net.
"I want to thank the Southern Conference for its recognition of Kyle and Dylan," said VMI head coach
Nick Regan. "As a team, we feel we are turning a corner and writing our own chapter in the VMI soccer story. The result vs. Radford wasn't just a story here at VMI, it was a major story in college soccer in general. We haven't been recognized this way by the SoCon since 2002, congratulations to Kyle and Dylan."
The Keydets last Southern Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week was Austin Williams in 2002 (VMI was a member of the Big South from 2003-2014).
VMI faces Mary Baldwin University later today at 4:30 p.m. in Staunton, Va.
