LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI baseball team will face a familiar foe Tuesday at 6 p.m. as Norfolk State University visits Gray-Minor Stadium for the fifth meeting between the two teams this season. The Keydets swept a three-game series in Lexington in mid-March, while the Spartans defeated VMI in Norfolk two weeks ago.

The contest is VMI's eighth-straight on Post as part of a 12-game homestand.

*VMI leads the country batting average (.336) and the Keydets also are first in stolen bases with 155, currently 20 ahead of second place.

Last time:
VMI won the first game this weekend against Mercer University but dropped the next two in a Southern Conference series. Several Keydets has impressive offensive showings including:
*Cole Jenkins hit .571 in the three games, with a double, a triple, two homers for a 1.217 slugging percentage
*Ty Swaim hit .471 with three doubles, seven runs scored and four RBI
*Trey Morgan was .429 with a double, a home run and six runs
*Justin Starke hit .417 with a double, a home run, five runs and six RBI
*Cole Garrett had two home runs

About the Spartans:
Norfolk State dropped a three-game Northeast Conference series at Fairleigh Dickinson this weekend. Dionte Brown has a team-best .331 batting average and 12 stolen bases and has scored 16 runs with 17 RBI. Justin Journette has a team-high six home runs to go along with five doubles, 17 runs and 22 RBI. The Spartans are 8-29 overall and 5-13 in conference play.
