LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI baseball team's weekend Southern Conference series with Mercer University in Gray-Minor Stadium has been altered due to the possibility of inclement weather. The two teams will now square off in a doubleheader Friday starting at 2 p.m., with Sunday's game staying in place for 1 p.m.

Last Time:
Old Dominion University scored runs in each of the first seven innings Wednesday and went on to defeat VMI 11-6 from Gray-Minor Stadium in non-conference play. The Keydets plated four runs in the seventh inning to cut into the lead, two off a home run from catcher Cole Garrett and the other two from a Justin Starke single.

Garrett went 2-5 with a double, a home run and a walk, one of four Keydets to have multiple hits. Starke also tripled on the evening, while Jimmy Koza had two hits, including a double, and a walk. Ty Swaim had two hits and also doubled and Zac Morris recorded a hit and a walk

Tyler Kaltreider finished the game on the hill with two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and no walks with four strikeouts.

About the Bears:
Mercer fell at Georgia State Wednesday 13-3 to drop to 24-14 on the year. The Bears sit in third place in the Southern Conference standings at 6-3, with VMI just behind in fourth at 5-3.

Eric Toth leads the offense with a .344 batting average and 11 home runs. Treyson Hughes is hitting .302 with a team-best 46 runs scored to go with nine home runs.
Starting pitcher Josh Farmer is seventh in the conference with a 4.62 ERA while Cameron Reeves is tied for fourth with 50 strikeouts.
