BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The VMI Water Polo team had its last regular-season match of the 2023 season, falling to La Salle in the third of three matches of the weekend on Sunday.

The Keydets and Explorers traded goals in the early going, before La Salle would establish a little bit of distance in the third quarter and ultimately take the contest 14-7.

- Smith and Shettleroe opened the first quarter with goals as VMI took a 2-1 lead

While the season is over, VMI had some good highlights during the year, including wins over Macalaster, Carthage and UC Merced – a game in which they scored 23 goals. Not only did VMI get to honor the class of 2023 this month, but the '23 class of Gia Donatelli, Katie Lloyd and Sydney Shettleroe helped ring in the brand new, state-of-the art VMI Aquatic Center with matches on April 1-2.
