SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The VMI baseball team broke another stolen base record Sunday, but fell 12-6 at Wofford College in a Southern Conference game.
The Keydets now have 100 stolen bases on the season through just 25 games, snapping the old mark of 99 set in 2015 in 51 games. Junior
Brett Cook took third base in the top of the sixth inning to set the new record. VMI holds the NCAA record for stolen bases in an inning (9), set a week ago against Norfolk State University.
How it happened:
Justin Starke blasted a two-run home run in the first and
Cole Jenkins doubled in the second to put VMI (14-11/1-2 SoCon) ahead 3-0. The Terriers scored had big innings of four runs in the third and five in the fifth to help open an 11-5 edge and kept the Keydets off the scoreboard the final three innings.
Highlights:
*VMI had 12 base hits on the day and had four players with multiple hits
*Starke finished 3-4 with four RBI

Grayson Fitzwater and Jenkins each went 2-4 with an RBI
*
Cole Garrett had two hits, including a double, and Cook doubled
*Trey Younger, Dixon Black and Cameron Gill each had three hits for Wofford (17-6/2-1)
