PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The VMI Water Polo opened up the first of two matches in Philadelphia on Saturday, falling at La Salle 17-6.
La Salle, who was playing in its home arena, would take advantage of a VMI lineup that was missing
Katie Lloyd and jumped in front 6-0 before the Keydets got on the board.
Courtney Novotny would lead VMI with three goals on the day with three, while
Sydney Smith netted two and
Gia Donatelli added one.
Julia Ward and
Caragh Osborne filled in at goalkeeper, with Osborne collecting four saves and Ward one.

VMI jumps back in the pool Sunday for a rematch against Villanova at noon eastern.
