LEXINGTON, Va. - The VMI baseball team opens Southern Conference play this weekend at Wofford College, with games scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday (moved up from 6 p.m.), 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday on Russell C. King Field.

VMI dropped to 13-9 on the season Wednesday, falling 11-0 to Virginia Tech. Trey Morgan had a hit and stole two bases while Ty Swaim, Zac Morris and Jed Barrett each had a hit and a walk.
Player of the Week:
Justin Starke was named the Southern Conference's Player of the Week for the week of March 20. He hit .571 and belted two doubles, a triple and a home run to post a 1.071 slugging percentage with six runs and eight RBI. Starke walked four times and stole four bases as well and had a .667 on base percentage.
About the Terriers:
Wofford enters SoCon play with the best overall record of conference teams at 15-5, which includes a program-best 14-game winning streak. The Terriers are 14-2 at home.
WC is coming off an 8-5 win at Georgia Tech on Tuesday. First-baseman Ryan Galanie earned two SoCon weekly honors last week: Player of the Week (March 13) and Student-Athlete of the Week (March 15). Galanie currently leads the SoCon in all three Triple Crown categories: .452 average, seven homers and 26 RBI. Wofford was picked as the SoCon's preseason favorite in both the coaches and media polls.
