VMI Breaks Stolen Base Record in 15-4 win over Norfolk State

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI baseball team broke a 28-year-old program record and tied an NCAA mark Sunday as the Keydets defeated visiting Norfolk State University 15-4 in seven innings to sweep the three-game series in Gray-Minor Stadium.

VMI stole 14 bases Sunday to snap the old school record for most stolen bases in a game of 12 set against Juniata on March 10, 1995. Justin Starke stole four, while Ty Swaim, Trey Morgan, Zac Morris and Addison Clark each took two.

The Keydets also broke the NCAA Division I record for most stolen bases in an inning with nine in the second frame, breaking a mark that had been on the books since the 1993 season

The sweep of NSU is the team's third already this season, following a four-game sweep of Holy Cross in late February and a three-game sweep of Coppin State University in early March. The Keydets are 13-8 overall and 12-2 at home.

Other Highlights:
