Water Polo falls at Wagner, to Villanova in Saturday action

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Returning to the east coast, the VMI Water Polo opened up MAAC play on Saturday afternoon, falling to Wagner and Villanova.

The Keydets fell by a score of 27-10 at No. 18 Wagner, before dropping the second match 21-6 to a strong Villanova team.

Game 1 vs. No. 18 Wagner
- Sydney Smith, Sydney Shettleroe and Gia Donatelli each score three
- Seahawks jump in front with seven goals to start contest
- Shettleroe gets VMI on the board in the first quarter
- Wagner establishes more distance, Sadie Smith scores her first of the day
- Seahawks add goals down the stretch to take the contest

Game 2 vs. Villanova
- Gia Donatelli nets three goals, Sadie Smith scores two
- Katie Lloyd collects seven saves
- VMI strikes first as the teams trade goals to start
- Villanova jumps in front 8-1, Donatelli scores first of the game but Wildcats extend lead and earn the victory

What's Next
The Keydets, now sit at 3-8 but will turn around Sunday to close out spring break with a match against LIU. The action will start at noon eastern.
