LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI baseball team has one mid-week game on the calendar this week, at home in Gray-Minor Stadium Wednesday at 5 p.m. against James Madison University.
The two teams met just last week in Harrisonburg, with the Dukes coming away with a 9-4 victory on Tuesday, March 7.
About VMI:
VMI (10-7) outscored Radford University last weekend 31-23 in a three-game series, but the Highlanders won two one-run ballgames. VMI hit .337 against Radford, drilling five home runs, walking 19 times and stealing 17 bases.
Juniors
Trey Morgan and
Cole Garrett each hit their first home runs of the season over the weekend, while
Justin Starke,
Brett Cook and
Zac Morris also hit longballs. Morgan hit .667 for the series with a .800 on base percentage, a 1.111 slugging percentage and four stolen bases. He is expected to get his first start of the year on the hill Wednesday against the Dukes and has a 3.00 ERA thus far.
About the Dukes:
JMU is 9-7 on the year after dropping two of three on the road at USC-Upstate last weekend. Kyle Novak has a team-best .418 batting average and a .529 on base percentage. Fenwick Trimble has eight doubles, six home runs and 26 RBI with a .823 slugging percentage.
CJ Czerwinski will be making his second start of the season Wednesday and is 1-0 with a 4.09 ERA.

VMI hosts Norfolk State University this weekend in its last non-conference series before beginning Southern Conference action at Wofford College March 24-26.
