Box Score CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The VMI baseball team played one of the best teams in the country tough on Tuesday, but #19 Virginia defeated VMI 3-0 in a non-conference game from Davenport Field at Disharoon Park.
The unbeaten Cavaliers (8-0) came into the game having scored 20 runs in their last two outings, but five VMI pitchers kept the UVA offense in check for much of the contest.
How it happened:
*The Cavaliers scored two in the bottom of the third with two outs and added an insurance run in the seventh
*VMI had two runners on with no outs in the seventh trailing by just two, but Virginia got out of the jam unscathed
Highlights:

Evan Parmer started on the hill for VMI and threw 2 2/3 innings of shutout ball, before running into trouble with two outs in the bottom of the third

Hunter Sipe threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts and
Jack Thompson and
Derrell Fletcher-Knight each tossed a scoreless frame.

Justin Starke had two walks while
Ty Swaim,
Zac Morris and
Cole Jenkins each had hits
*Kyle Teel went 2-4 and drove in all three of the Cavalier runs
