LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI baseball team has a quick turnaround after a weekend series at Mississippi State University, traveling to Old Dominion University Tuesday for a 3 p.m. non-conference game at Bud Metheny Baseball Stadium.
Last Time:
VMI upset MSU 14-13 on Saturday after trailing 10-1 and had a 3-0 lead in Sunday's rubber match before the Bulldogs came back.
Sam Roberts earned his first career win as the head coach of the Keydet program on Saturday.
Junior second baseman
Ty Swaim belted a two-run home run, drew three walks, stole two bases and scored five times Saturday. In the weekend series he scored seven runs. Freshman
Grayson Fitzwater started off his collegiate career strong at the dish hitting .556 in the three games with four runs scored and a 1.223 OPS.
About the Monarchs:
ODU won two of three in a series at home against St. John's this weekend. Jake Ticer batted .625 and hit three home runs with seven RBI. ODU scored 23 times in the three contests and had a team ERA of 2.89.
Former VMI head coach Jonathan Hadra is in his first season as an assistant on the Monarch staff.
