LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI wrestling team split matches with The Citadel and Queens University of Charlotte Saturday after the program's seven graduating seniors were recognized on Senior Day.

The Citadel defeated VMI 20-12 in the first match of the day, but the Keydets rolled to a 38-3 win over Queens to end the 2022-23 regular season.

How it happened:
*The Bulldogs went ahead 11-0 in the early going, but VMI won the next three matches to cut the lead to 11-9. The 174 and 184 pound matches went The Citadel's way and the Keydets couldn't close the gap enough in the final two matches to earn the win.
*VMI had three pins and two wins via major decision against Queens.

Highlights:
*Freshman Ryan Vigil won his match against The Citadel at 149 pounds with a reversal in the final five seconds. He pinned his foe from Queens
*Junior Tyler Mousaw won both of his matches on the day, pinning his Queens opponent in just 1:05
*Freshman Braxton Lewis won both of his matches at 165 and job Chishko won his only match of the day against The Citadel
*Sophomore Josh Evans needed only 2:28 to pin his Queens foe in the last match of the day
*Tony Burke (125) and Dyson Dunham (133) each won by major decision against Queens and Josh Yost (157) had two wins

VMI will compete in the 2023 Southern Conference Tournament Saturday March 4 in Boone, N.C.
