VMI Football at Furman Game Day Central

Keydets travel to No. 2 Furman Saturday

LEXINGTON, Va. – After a down-to-the wire win on the road last weekend, the VMI Keydets Football team travels down to Furman Saturday for a matchup with the second-ranked Paladins. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m.

TOPPING (East) TENNESSEE – Trailing 24-14 entering the fourth quarter, the VMI Football Team blanked ETSU in the final period to the tune of 17-0, earning the program's fourth win of the season and the fourth win all-time in Johnson City. With Collin Shannon getting the start at quarterback, Hunter Rice continued to be the story as he rushed for three scores in the win. The victory marked just the third time in the last 15 years that VMI Football has had four wins.

SCOUTING THE PALADINS – The preseason No. 1, Furman has been the class of the conference this year, posting a perfect 6-0 record in the SoCon and an 8-1 record overall, with its only loss coming at South Carolina. Boasting arguably the top offensive line in the SoCon, the Paladins have the 27th-best rushing offense in the nation led by Dominic Roberto (674 yards, 7 TDs) and dual-threat quarterback Tyler Huff (SoCon Athlete of the Month) who has rushed for 488 yards (5 TDs) and thrown for 1,489 yards and nine touchdowns. Turning the ball over has been a calling card for Furman, ranking 5th in the country with 13 interceptions. Cally Chizik has four on the season, while Travis Blackshear has collected three.

A VMI Win over Furman would ...
-- Give VMI its fourth conference win of the season
-- Give the Keydets a 5-win season for just the fourth time in 20 years
