FARMVILLE, Va. – Despite a furious second-half comeback, the VMI men's soccer team fell 2-1 Tuesday evening at Longwood University in non-conference play at the Longwood Athletic Complex.
How it happened:
*Longwood goals by Tosin Ayokunle and Iago Rodriguez in the first half gave the Lancers a 2-0 lead at intermission
*The Keydets came out strong in the second half and had several scoring opportunities before finally getting on the scoreboard
*With just under six minutes left to play a set of quick passes from three freshmen led to a goal.

*The Keydets had a final chance at a tie as freshman
Jesse Lee got a shot off close to the goal but the Lancer goalie made the save as time expired
Inside the numbers:
*The Keydets held a 7-5 edge in shots in the second half with a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks
*VMI earned a 9-7 edge in corner kicks overall and had 12 shots on the day
