VMI fell to league leader Samford Wednesday night as the host Bulldogs prevailed by an 87-78 count at Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Keydets (5-11, 0-3) kept pace with the Bulldogs (9-7, 3-0) the entire game and pulled with one point at the 11:06 mark of the second half following a trey by Sean Conway, but VMI could not sustain momentum as Samford pulled away over the final 10 minutes of regulation to earn the win. Freshman Asher Woods led the way for VMI with 15 points while three others logged 14 points a piece.
