LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's water polo team will conclude the 2022 regular season Saturday with matches at La Salle College at 10 a.m. and Villanova University at 2 p.m. Both are Metro Atlantic Conference (MAAC) contests.
The Keydets hosted both opponents on March 19 in Clark King Pool, falling to the Explorers 17-6 and the Wildcats 19-14. The games were the first conference matches of the season for VMI.
Katie Lloyd made 10 stops in net against La Salle, while
Ellie Pickford paced the offense with a pair of goals. Sydney
Shettleroe had a goal and two assists, and
Caragh Osborne,
Kiara Anguiano and
Makenna Moore each also scored. Genevieve
Petrassi was credited with four steals and
Maddie Berry had three.
Petrassi found the back of the net four times and added four steals and an assist against Villanova.
Shettleroe also had four scores and a helper, and Gia
Donatelli scored twice.
Anguiano and Moore each had a goal and two assists and Osborne had a goal and an assist.
Maddie Berry assisted on four goals and Courtney
Novotny also scored.
La Salle is 21-12 overall and 8-6 in the conference while Villanova is 18-15 overall and 7-7 in the MAAC.
