LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI baseball team will travel to northern Virginia this weekend to square off with Georgetown University in a three-game non-conference series. The two teams will meet Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. in Rockville, Md. at Shirley Povich Field and Sunday at 1 p.m. in Bowie, Md. at the Prince George's Stadium.
VMI sits at 8-12 on the year, looking to get back in the winning column. In 11 March games,
Trey Morgan is hitting .390 with two doubles. The Keydets have played 13 games already this month, and
Justin Starke,
Will Knight,
Brett Cook and
Zac Morris have been in the starting lineup every game. Starke and Cook each have five March home runs and Cook has driven in a team-best 15 runs, while Starke has scored a team-high 16 runs.
Georgetown is 12-8 on the season. Jake Hyde paces the Hoya offense with a .440 average, nine doubles and eight home runs. He has a .833 slugging percentage with 24 runs and 23 RBI. The hosts hit .259 as a team and have combined for 34 home runs in 20 games.
VMI is 4-0 all-time against the Hoyas, the last victory in 2016 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
