IRVINE, Cali. – Concordia Irvine University scored the first five goals of the game Tuesday and went on to defeat the VMI women's water polo team 17-10 in a contest played at Beckman High School.

Caragh Osborne had a hat trick for VMI, while Sydney Shettleroe and Courtney Novotny each scored twice. Ellie Pickford and Genevieve Petrassi each had a goal and an assist and Gia Donatelli also scored. Shettleroe drew four exclusions and Petrassi and Makenna Moore recorded four and three steals, respectively.  

The Eagles led 8-1 the break, and each team scored nine goals after intermission.

Madison Ravelo had four goals and two assists for Concordia Irvine.

The Keydets close out their California trip Wednesday with a match at California Baptist University in Riverside at 3 p.m.
