LEXINGTON, Va. – After a seven-game homestand, the VMI baseball team will hit the road Tuesday with a tough test at the University of North Carolina, ranked #15 in Division I. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.

JT Inskeep was the hero Friday as VMI split with Lehigh University, dropping the first game 8-0 but rallying for a 11-7 win in game two. Inskeep hammered a grand slam to center field as part of a seven-run fourth inning to give VMI a 9-4 lead in the nightcap. Freshman
Ryan Peterson connected on his first collegiate home run, a two-run shot to left center, in the fifth to push the lead to 11-4.
Cole Garrett ripped a two-run home run for VMI down the left field line in the second after Lehigh opened the game with a 4-0 lead.

Starke each had two hits.

Nathan Light tossed six innings for the win and
Will Riley notched the save after three scoreless frames of relief, striking out six.
Inskeep threw three innings of scoreless relief in the first game, allowing just one hit and one walk with four strikeouts for VMI. Reeves
Whitmore recorded a hit and was hit by a pitch to reach base for VMI.
VMI improved to 8-7 on the year.
The Tarheels are 14-2 this year after opening ACC play this weekend with a three-game sweep of Pittsburgh. The two teams last met on March 11, 2020, the final game of the season due to the Covid-19 shutdown.
