GROVE CITY, Pa. – The VMI women's water polo team notched its first win of the 2022 season in impressive fashion Friday, defeating Penn State Behrend 19-3. The match was the first of three for the Keydets at the Grove City Invitational this weekend.
All 10 of the Keydet field players got on the scoreboard in a balanced offensive attack.
Senior
Genevieve Petrassi totaled three goals on the day with four assists, five steals and two drawn exclusions.
Makenna Moore had three goals and three assists while
Sydney Shettleroe also had a hat trick to go along with an assist and two steals.
Kiara Anguiano tallied two goals and two assists,
Katelynn Riley scored twice and
Ellie Pickford had a goal and two assists.
Maddie Berry had a goal and an assist and
Courtney Novotny,
Caragh Osborne and
Gia Donatelli all found the back of the net. Donatelli also had four steals and goalie
Katie Lloyd made eight saves.
VMI led the Wolverines 8-0 after one period and 12-1 at halftime.
The Keydets are scheduled to face host Grove City Saturday at 10:30 a.m. followed by Washington & Jefferson College at 4:30 p.m.
