Keydets Perform Well at Pirate Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – With the SoCon Championships two weeks away, the VMI cross country teams performed well at the ECU Pirate Invitational hosted by East Carolina University Friday afternoon at Lake Kristi in Greenville, North Carolina.

The VMI men placed fourth overall in the 8K race with 144 points led by senior Trent Whittaker's 19th-place finish in 25:49.63. Fellow senior D. Alex Fiorillo placed 37th overall in 26:38.73, and freshman Nicholas Ligday came in 40th place in 26:56.84.

Freshman Benjamin Hagerich arrived in 43rd place in 27:01.11, and sophomore Brian Tavenner finished 45h overall in 27:05.48.

Craig Swain, John Gibson and Patrick Kiernan also competed for the Keydets.

VMI will compete in the Southern Conference Championships slated for Sunday, October 30, at Johns Island hosted by The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.
